COLLECTIVITY AS THE FOUNDATION OF CIRCULARITY
Across the Netherlands, new initiatives are emerging in which people and communities—often under the radar—are experimenting with alternatives for the future. In the fields of circularity, energy, mobility, nature, food, work, and housing, practices are taking shape that do not wait for policy change but act from a sense of social urgency and imagination. Each operates within its own domain, yet all are connected by a shared search for new ways forward.
KeileCollectief, WeMakeTheCity, and AIR are organizing the day conference The Power of Community – Collectivity as the Foundation of Circularity during the Rotterdam Architecture Month. Here, practitioners and pioneers will engage in conversations about initiatives in both urban and rural contexts. Topics include how to build communities, collaborate with governments and market parties through trial and error, create local economies, balance short- and long-term goals, and address legal and financial challenges. The conference explores both the strength and the vulnerability of communities, as well as how to ensure continuity. Above all, it is about experimenting, researching, and learning from one another. The event will also mark the launch of the Citymakers Academy (Stadmakers Academie).
The day begins with a plenary opening session. After lunch, participants can choose between two rounds of breakout sessions, featuring workshops and discussions led by experts and pioneers from a wide range of cooperatives, collectives, and community initiatives from Rotterdam and beyond.

Lunch
During the lunch break, there will be ample time to go outside or have lunch elsewhere. If you would like to join the conference lunch, this is possible for €12.95. Please indicate during registration that you would like to participate and specify any dietary requirements.
The day will conclude with a networking reception.
Registration
Register free of charge via the ticket shop below. Please note that lunch is not included in the conference registration. If you would like to make use of the lunch option, please order it at the same time as your registration so that we can arrange it for you on the day of the event (23 June).
Lunch orders must be placed no later than Tuesday, 16 June.
In the ticket shop, you can view the available lunch options (including vegan, fish, and meat choices) and complete your registration. The lunch includes a sandwich, a sweet treat, fruit, and a drink.
