Exhibition "There is No Place Like Keilewerf" | June 1 – 30

The exhibition There is No Place Like Keilewerf can be seen at the rear of Keilewerf 2 throughout the entire Architecture Month Rotterdam 2026. This retrospective exhibition was first presented two years ago during the 10th anniversary of the Keilewerf, as part of Placemaking Week Europe 2024. Now the exhibition returns to make the story of the Keilewerf and its community visible once again.

The Keilewerf started in 2014 as a vacant 3,180 m² warehouse at Vierhavenstraat 56 and grew into a vibrant breeding ground for creative makers and entrepreneurs. In 2016, a second location followed at Keilestraat 5a, where dozens of entrepreneurs once again found their workspace. Although Keilewerf 1 was lost to fire in 2023, the energy and community of the Keilewerf still live on.

Within the Keilewerf, artists, furniture makers, musicians, designers, and photographers build their own studios and workshops. This makes the Keilewerf a unique place where experimentation, craftsmanship, and collaboration come together.

De Keilewerf is an initiative of PlaceBased, a Rotterdam-based organization committed to a creative, livable, and affordable Rotterdam. By breathing new life into vacant buildings and offering space to creative entrepreneurs, PlaceBased creates places where makers can grow and where new connections are formed between the city, the neighborhood, and the community.

The exhibition is located on and around the rear grounds of Keilewerf and can be visited continuously throughout the entire month of June.
