This award from the Province of South Holland celebrates initiatives that contribute to a healthier, more sustainable and more connected food environment.
The Food Garden is committed to a sustainable city, with healthy food, especially for people with a small wallet. They produce vegetables, herbs and (sometimes) fruit for users of the Voedselbank Rotterdam (Delfshaven) and other social projects. Volunteers come together five mornings a week to grow the food according to organic principles: healthy for people and for the soil. They harvest and eat together.
Everyone is welcome at the Food Garden. To help or to relax.
This way, people with a distance to the labor market can learn and work here at the same time. Volunteers also come to the Food Garden for fun, find a nice daytime activity here or are recovering from illness or loss.
In addition, the food garden is a green oasis for employees of neighboring companies as well as for (casual) passers-by.
If you think the Food Garden deserve the prize of € 3,000, cast your vote via this link. This is possible until September 21.
Finally: come by to see with your own eyes how beautiful the Food Garden is!
